Got Lost

          When I was in SMP and SMA, I joined many activities and organizations. At that time, I used to like hiking. Lake Talang was my favorite place to do that. Six years ago, I had an unforgettable experience in this place. I was at the second grade in SMP. My friends and I prepared everything that we needed for hiking such as food, camera, jacket and any others. We brought much of food supply and drink. It was very fun to spend my time to do what I really enjoyed. On Saturday, my friends and I went hiking to Lake Talang. It was a perfect day, and I had great time at first. We left for Lake Talang around 7 o’clock in the morning and arrived there at 11 A.M. After we arrived in Lake Talang, we did some games, enjoyed our meal and took some pictures. It was very beautiful place. We had a lot of fun and we enjoyed the scenery very much.

        When the time showed 3 P.M, we decided to back home as soon as possible. We did not choose the same route as we have passed before but we chose different route. We wanted to back home by passing a large tea garden in Mount Talang. Unfortunately, something unexpected happened. At the middle of trip, we got lost in a jungle. Nobody knew the right way, and we were extremely worried. It was little bit rainy day and we did not have food or water anymore. We did not know where the right way to back home was.

        We sat under the trees and thought in a short time. We decided to be separated for a while to look for the way back home. After an hour, we felt very tired and then took for the rest. We only sat down under trees and thought how we could back home. Suddenly, we saw something moved there “what is that?” I said. My close friend answered “that is a swine”. We screamed and the boys said, “heii... calm down”.  Fortunately, the swine surprised and ran away from us because of our scream. Then, we tried to look for the right way again, but we still did not find the way.

        Not long after that, I stood up and said, “I will climb that hill, maybe we can see the right way from there” I pointed a hill which was not too far from us. My close friend accompanied me to go to the top of that hill. After several time, I arrived at the top of that hill. I looked around and yelled at my friends “Hiii... We are saved, we can back home”. They were very happy to hear that. I could see the right way from the hill. Then the other climbed the hill too. We walked and walked on that way. We felt very tired and it was still little bit rainy day. We walked on that way and arrived at a tea garden. It was still too far from our home. The watch showed 05.30 P.M and it was impossible for us to be at home before magrib.  At least, we would arrive at 08.30 P.M. Luckily, while we were walking in the big road, a truck stopped. The truck driver offered us to get a ride. Around 06.45 we arrived at home.

        This experience was unforgettable for me because it was the first time I got lost along my life. This experience did not make me afraid to go hiking again. When my friend and I have a holiday, we would go hiking to this place and passed this route. We would not get lost anymore because of this experience.

Behind the Scene; Got Lost

           Making a narrative text was one of the duties that were given by my lecturer. It could be a fiction or a real story. I did not have any idea as the topic of my narrative text. The only thing that I remembered at that time was my experience six years ago. I thought it could be a good story, so I began to elaborate my experience on a piece of paper. In this case, I chose free writing as the first step to make this story. This story based on my real experience, but it was not 100 percent same as what exactly happened. The real one was too flat, so I put some extra occurrence as the seasoning to make it had more sense and had better taste.

          There are some differences among this story and the real occurrences. In this story, the characters who I wrote were just my friends and I. In fact, there was one more character, he was my teacher who taught us on learned Qur’an in TPA (a place where I learned Qur’an). I did it because I wanted to make this story was like an adventure story that happened to a group of teenager. Another difference was when we got lost we did not see a big swine there, but we only saw something moved in the coppice. We did not know what that was actually. The other difference was the person who found the right way was not me, but my teacher did it. Those all were the differences among the real one and what I have written in my story.

            The last step on making this story was I asked my friends to check the mistakes on my written and then gave it to my lecturer. After I got her approval, I could publish it. In conclusion, those all were what exactly happened behind the scene about my story; got lost.
